Two Bulawayo security guards, Jabulani Nyathi, 53 and Musabvunza Mabumure, 40, have been arrested at a mine in Hope Fountain on allegations of shooting and killing a man they accused of illegally mining at Carry Mine.
The duo shot dead a yet-to-be-identified man, who was part of a group of artisanal miners carrying out illegal mining activities at the mine on Monday.
“Police in Bulawayo have arrested two security guards – Jabulani Nyathi and Musabvunza Mabumure in connection with a murder case in which a yet-to-be-identified artisanal miner was shot dead with a shotgun on April 10, 2023 at Carry Mine, Hope Fountain,” said Zimbabwe Republic Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi in a statement.
