Government says it has completed assessing implementation of the 2015-2022 curriculum framework, while review of the new curriculum presently underway.

Speaking during the Curriculum Review Media Engagement Workshop in Darwendale on yesterday, Primary and Secondary Education Permanent Secretary Tumisang Thabela, who was represented by chief director of curriculum development and technical services, Cyprian Masocha, said they have engaged consultants to guide the review process.

“This is to inform the 2023 curriculum review processes, bringing out the successes, (and) challenges, and once all the contributions from stakeholders have come through, the ministry will produce the 2023-2030 curriculum framework for primary and secondary education in another seven-year cycle,” she said.

The review, she said, will give the country a chance to ensure that education speaks to new realities that have emerged since 2015.

“Our curriculum must be positioned to provide a sustainable base for the production of critical and skilled human capital that will propel the country into an upper middle-income economy by 2030.”
