The introduction of an Air Zimbabwe route between Harare and Masvingo has been welcomed by international tourism buyers, who say improved access to the province will help them market its tourism products to overseas visitors.
Godknows Homwe of Yedu Lani Travel, based in the United Kingdom, said the new route was a positive development for destination marketing, particularly as Masvingo hosted the 19th Sanganai/Hlanganani Dzimbahwe World Tourism Expo.
“I’m excited because of Sanganai 2026, especially the Air Zimbabwe route to Masvingo.
“It’s quite a good development, especially for the product in selling Zimbabwe as a destination,” said Homwe.
He also welcomed the decision to rotate Sanganai/Hlanganani to different provinces, saying the approach gave destinations outside the traditional tourism centres an opportunity to attract international buyers and showcase their products.
“One of the things that I’m happy about, especially for Sanganai 2026, is the rotation of this expo here in Masvingo.
“It benefits Masvingo in terms of development. We have seen what’s been developed,” he said.
Homwe said taking the expo to different provinces would expose tourism buyers to a wider range of products while spreading the economic benefits associated with the event.
He said this year’s expo had enabled him to meet tourism suppliers from across the country, helping him identify products that could be packaged for the UK and European markets.

“It’s quite good to know the products for destination marketing back in the UK and Europe. It’s good to have good quality products that we’re having,” he said.
Homwe said destinations such as Gonarezhou National Park and the Great Zimbabwe Monuments needed stronger international marketing.
He said the expo had also allowed him to connect with suppliers from Victoria Falls, the Eastern Highlands and other parts of the country.
“I’m excited to go back and position Zimbabwe in a good positive manner and distribute Zimbabwe to the general market,” he said.
Homwe also commended the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry for its efforts to promote the country's tourism sector.
He praised Minister Barbara Rwodzi and Dr George Manyaya for their work in promoting Zimbabwe as a tourism destination.
“The efforts that the Minister is doing, as well as Dr George Manyaya, it’s a good combination,” he said.
Homwe said he was looking forward to packaging Zimbabwe’s tourism and hospitality products for domestic, diaspora and international markets.
The 19th edition of Sanganai/Hlanganani Dzimbahwe was held from September 9 to 12 at the Gymkhana Events and Conference Centre in Masvingo.
