A 33-year-old Harare man allegedly raped his cousin in his truck in Warren Park D after giving her four bottles of Brutal Fruit, which allegedly left her feeling dizzy.
The accused, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the complainant, appeared before the Harare Regional Magistrates’ Court facing a charge of rape.
He was advised to approach the High Court for bail and was remanded in custody.
Prosecutor Lawrence Gangarahwe told the court that on the day in question, the complainant was travelling from Marondera to Kuwadzana when she received a phone call from the accused, who asked her to pass through Warren Park D.
The court heard that the complainant complied and proceeded to Pfukwa Shops in Warren Park D, where she met the accused.

The State alleges that the complainant later returned to Marondera, where she narrated her ordeal to a relative.
The relative accompanied her to the police to file a report, leading to the accused’s arrest.
A medical affidavit and other evidence are expected to be produced in court as investigations continue.
