Bulawayo Chiefs earned their first win of the season yesterday in an entertaining match against Harare giants Dynamos at the National Sports Stadium.
Chiefs were so determined and organised to inflict pain on DeMbare.
Chiefs’ win saw Dynamos suffering their first defeat of the season and dropping to number seven on the log standings.
Mthokozisi Msebe’s 17th minute effort saw Dynamos trailing.
Captain Frank Makarati equalised ten minutes later through a controversial penalty.
Chiefs disputed the penalty as they felt Malvin Mkolo did not handle but the ball had hit his knee in the crowded box. They left the pitch in protest before returning seven minutes later.
The visitors came from half time charged with Felix Moyo restoring Amakhosi’s lead just two minutes into the second half.
Dynamos were exposed after the goal as Chiefs took turns to miss golden opportunities. However, Tendai Matindife and Tanaka Shandirwa combined well and Shandirwa equalised in the 80th minute before veteran midfilder Danny “Deco” Phiri restored Chiefs lead in the 87th minute after Dynamos goalkeeper Taimon Mvula failed to cut a corner kick.
