Football fans have castigated CAPS United after the club’s officials wrote to Premier Soccer League requesting for a hike in gate charges.
Makepekepe officials want the gate charges to be pegged at US$5 for the rest of the ground in their Week 7 match against bitter rivals Dynamos on Sunday.
Fans have said that CAPS United officials are not in sync with reality.
“I think CAPS United officials are not aware of the reality on the ground, fans cannot be pushed to pay 5 dollars from 2 dollars,” Brian Muza, a staunch Makepekepe fan.
Some argue that CAPS United on its own has no large fan base and if they are basing on DeMbare fan base then they do not know what they want as DeMbare numbers have fallen in the last few games.
“Indeed if CAPS officials think that Dynamos fans will come in numbers, then they are not serious. DeMbare has posted negative results in the last three games and their fans are frustrated. I do not think they will come in numbers,” George Mbuzana, another Makepekepe fan, added.
The PSL had not responded to Makepekepe’s request at the time of writing.
Makepekepe will lock horns with DeMbare on Sunday at the giant National Sports Stadium.
