Seed-Co launches new wheat variety

Leading Zimbabwean seed producer and marketer, Seed-Co, has launched SC Serena, a new high-yielding wheat variety.

Seed-Co Southern Region Agronomist Godfrey Magavhu confirmed the launch of the SC Serena.

He said SC Serena is the third wheat variety after the SC Select and SC Nduna.

“As Seed-Co, we encourage farmers to take farming as a business. Let’s adopt improved varieties which have better yields. It starts with the right seed to attain bumper harvests,” said Magavhu.

He said SC Serena has high yields of up to 12 tonnes per hectare across all agro-ecological zones of the country under good management, while its moderate height adds resistance to wheat rust.
