Zim Now Writer
Two suspected drug dealers operating in Harare's Avenues area have been nabbed and police recovered cocaine and ecstasy tablets worth ZWL$36 million \

As the operation to rid the streets of illicit drugs continues, the duo Talent Mapanga and Ngoni Paradzayi are among the drug peddlers who have been arrested and appeared in court on Saturday facing charges of unlawfully dealing in dangerous drugs.

It is alleged the police received information that the pair were pushing illicit drugs in the Avenues area.

The two, who allegedly operated from a car, were then arrested and found in possession of cocaine and ecstasy tablets worth ZWL$36 million ( about US$7 200).

The current police operation against drug dealers was directly triggered by the expulsion of several learners from the upper class Dominican Convent girls school in the same area.

Meanwhile, a 30-year-old woman who is suspected to be supplying crystal meth in Murewa was caught with sachets of the illicit drug on board a bus heading to Murewa.

Rufaro Tangwadzana ran out of luck when police followed her onto the bus and she confessed to possession.

Since the declaration of war against drugs by authorities, over 600 suspects have been arrested and the bulk of them have appeared in court.
