Sources have told Zim Now that E-Creator founder Zhao Jiatong was arrested last night when he tried to board an Emirates flight that was destined for Dubai.
Zhao wanted to board flight EK714 departing RGMIA at where he had been placed on seat 33G.
Zhao is being held at the Commercial Crimes Unit pending further investigation.
Police have officially confirmed the arrest through their Twitter handle.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the arrest of Zhao Jiaotong (39) in connection with a case of fraud in which unsuspecting members of the public were duped through ponzi scheme.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police is inviting members of the public who might have been duped through E-Creator to report to any nearest police station," said police in a statement.
E-Creator investors found themselves losers when they failed to access funds and the company issued some statements claiming that they were working on payment systems and would start paying out again shortly.
