Three people who attempted to defraud a complainant of US$50 000 in a residential stand scam have appeared in court.
George Kuzambuwe, 53, of Unit M, Seke Chitungwiza, Stenard Davison Chasvava, 47, of Centenary and Ranganai Makwiranzou, 51, of Marlborough appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with fraud.
The complainant in this matter is Russel S. Rusike, who is based in the United Kingdom and is represented by his brother-in-law Simbarashe Gondo, 45 who resides in Fairview Park, Ruwa.
The State alleges that sometime in July, 2023 the three forged his title deeds for the residential stand in New Marlborough, Harare and acquired the Rusike’s metal national identity card.
The three approached Menlo Properties in Greendale Avenue, Harare and instructed them to sell the stand, claiming to be the owners.
Menlo Properties, before they advertised the said property, did due diligence and visited the Deeds Office.
They were given Rusike’s contact details and they got in touch with him and he denied that he was selling the property.
After that, Menlo Properties and Rusike’s wife, Tariro Gondo, teamed up with the police to get the three arrested.
The police recovered Rusike’s metal national identity card from Kuzabuwe and a fake title deed from Chasvava.
As a result, Rusike suffered a potential of US$50 000.
The three were ordered to appear in court on July 31 for bail application.
