Shamva woman killed by crocodile

A 43-year-old Shamva woman, Yuvhona Masara, died after being attacked by a crocodile along Mazowe River last week.

Masara’s remains of were discovered floating on Mazowe River by a neighbour Shorai Gadaga, 40, yesterday.

Mashonaland Central deputy police spokesperson Sergeant Major Samuel Chikasha confirmed the incident.

“I can confirm a sudden death case in Shamva where remains of the now deceased Masara were discovered floating in Mazowe River,” Chikasha said.

The tacts of the matter are that Masara, who was mentally ill, left home on July 30 without telling her husband Makanza Nyakasoka, 52.

On August 6, Nyakasoka went and filed a police report after missing his wife for a week.

A neighbour saw the remains of the deceased floating and informed the police who retrieved the body and conveyed it to Shamva Hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem.

Police warned people not to play near water bodies.
