Winky D gets 2023 African Muzik Magazine Awards nomination

Zim Dancehall-Reggae artist Wallace Chirumiko, aka Winky D, has been nominated for the 2023 African Muzik Magazine Awards which will be held at Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas, Texas, on September 17.

Winky D was nominated for the Best Male Artist in Southern Africa which he will be competing against Costa Titch (South Africa), Macky2 (Zambia), AKA (South Africa) Sjava (South Africa), DJ Maphorisa (South Africa), and Musa Keys (South Africa).

Last year, he scooped another international award after winning the Best Male Artist in Southern Africa award at the All Africa Music Awards which were held in Dakar, Senegal.

His song Happy Again won the award competing with the likes of A-Reece (SA), Blxckie (SA), DJ Tarico (Mozambique), Gemini Major (Malawi), Focalistic (SA), Kabza De Small and Dj Maphorisa (SA), Muskateers (Namibia), Master KG (SA) and Zakes Bantwini (SA).

He also won the Zim Dancehall Awards and the Best African Dancehall Artist at the 2020 Entertainment Reggae and World Music Awards.

Singer and songwriter, Tamy Moyo and South Africa-based ShaSha are also nominated in the Best Female Southern Africa Category in which they will be battling against Ami Faku, Dj Zhinle, Tyler, Nadia Nakai and Makhadzi from South Africa.

Jake Zaral is nominated for the Best Video Director title with Lex and Answer competing in the Best African DJ USA category.
