A 37-year old man, Mbakisi Ncube of Plumtree, appeared before magistrate Joshua Nembaware at the Plumtree Magistrates’ Courts yesterday accused of stealing his grandfather’s goat and trying to slaughter it in his bedroom hut.
Prosecutor, Anorld Mudekunye told the court that the grandfather, Themba Ncube, 82, missed one of his goats and told his other nephew, Shiela Ndlovu.
Ndlovu searched for the goat around the yard and heard the goat’s bleats inside Mbakisi’s room.
She peeped through the door and found Mbakisi trying to skin the goat and rushed to tell her grandfather.
Ncube positively identified his goat and filed a police report, leading to Mbakisi’s arrest.
Mbakisi was charged with stock theft and was remanded in custody to August 29.
