Zimbos on social media show no mercy for Makhadzi

Zim Now Writer

Zimbabweans have expressed no sympathy for popular South African artist Makhadzi after she accused Zim-UK promoters of sabotaging her and trying to damage her reputation after she performed less time than she expected to after her time slot was adjusted during the Africa Music Festival in the United Kingdom.

“Makhadzi claiming she was used to pull a Zimbabwean crowd for WinkyD isn’t different from Dhagi claiming makati measure kupi,” tweeted @paulmuchemwa2, equating Makhadzi to withdrawn presidential candidate Douglas Mwonzora who failed to carry the MDC-T crowd when he wrested the political party from Nelson Chamisa.

Makhadzi incited the social media violence after saying she was used to pull the crowd then treated like a second rate artiste while Winky D got all the glory.

“Being famous doesn’t translate to maturity and professionalism. We respect and appreciate her work as evidenced with yearly bookings in Zimbabwe and the diaspora by Zimbabweans. Our beloved Makhadzi should be schooled on growing hand in hand with her brand. Some of her actions she display publicly it's that of a street artist without PR and or management.

“I've witnessed most of her beefs with fellow South African artists very quick to address the media to clear up herself and blame the other party...since Mr Brown is close to her. It will be good if he schools her about our beloved Winky D and Jah Prayzah. The two are not fighting and will never fight. There are just powerhouse of our music industry (sic).

“Winky D has been performing in the UK for decades. Winky D without her would fill that venue. The reason why many are in the UK is because of the economic conditions back home and Winky Ds music resonate with the struggle and gives them hope, strong heart and encouragement as they hustle each day in the diaspora. Same with JP music that reminds and connect us with our roots ... sober up Makhadzi don't be a cry baby everywhere you go,” wrote Brian Nhire on his Facebook wall.

“Makhadzi I am sorry about what happened we love you as Zimbabweans but for you to think Zimbabwe loves you more than Winky D .. .Is very untrue …  Google him,” posted the Thomas Chizhanje Page/

Jah Prayzah, who was pulled into the controversy by Makhadzi, got a share of the vitriol as angry Zimbos ripped into him as well.

Other social media commentators accused Makhadzi of being a diva who always plays the victim.
