Man up for attempted murder

A man who allegedly stabbed the complainant after a misunderstanding was has been arraigned before the courts.

Lovemore Rupiya, 38, of Epworth, appeared before magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts accused of attempted murder.

The State, through prosecutor Pardon Dziva, alleges that on September 23, 2023, at Gulf Complex in the Harare CBD at around 0830 hours, Rupiya had a misunderstanding with the complainant.

Rupiya produced a knife and stabbed the complainant on the left shoulder blade.

It is alleged that Rupiya wanted to further stab the complainant but was by the public.

The complainant, who allegedly wanted to withdraw the case, disappeared.

Rupiya was ordered to appear on October 31, for possible withdrawal.

“I will remand you out of custody since the complainant wants to withdraw,” said Gofa.

Meanwhile, Romio Marukutira, 26, was in court facing attempted murder.

The State alleges that Marukutira assaulted the complainant using an iron bar once on the head after the complainant allegedly went to Marukutira’s home demanding to have a conversation with Marukutira’s wife, who is also the complainant’s ex-wife.

Marukutira was ordered to appear in court on October 6, 2023 for bail application.
