3 ZB US$2.4m heist to be sentenced tomorrow

Three alleged armed robbers, who are believed to have been involved in the US$2.7 million ZB Bank armoured truck heist that occurred in 2021, have been ordered to appear in court on Wednesday for sentencing.

They appeared before magistrate Clever Tsikwa, who advised them that an order of whether they will be given the valuables that were taken from them or not when they were arrested, will also be delivered on the same day.

The four that were acquitted, Trymore Chapfika, 36, Tozivepi Chirara, 28, Dennis Madondo, 30 Tatenda Gadzikwa, 39, went out of the court smiling as they will get their US$234 000.

The mastermind of the heist, Shadreck Njowa, 55, Tendai Zuze, 35, and Neverson Mwamuka, 35, will have to hear their fate on October 4, where they will be sentenced after being found guilty.

The three allegedly staged one of the biggest robberies in Zimbabwe and were convicted after a full trial.
