“After not too much luck in love personally, I decided to use the passion, patience and hope for happily ever after to help others to find love. That was the birth of Kayla’s Heart.”
Bubbly personality and big heart describe the beautiful woman whose day job is with one of Zimbabwe’s biggest mining companies.
After deciding that happily ever after was not her lot, 39-year old Kayla Soza decided to use her Facebook influencer status to connect people with their soul mates and friends.
“I have been fortunate to be in long term relationships but sadly never got to marriage stage. With a day job that keep me out of town and on a long shift it made it harder to have a relationship as distance and inflexibility always made it a difficult to date.” She added.
So she created Kayla’s Heart in 2020 and has added a WhatsApp number for easier communication.
People send Kayla a brief profile including location and describe the ideal partner they hope to meet.
When Kayla shares on her FB wall interested takes present themselves via the WhatsApp number and a match is made.
“A lot of people have found love, some friendships, and some connections that helped them in businesses. Above all the biggest benefit was ‘less lonely hearts’.” Kayla says.
In addition to the matchmaking service, Kayla also discusses diverse relationship issues and tips on her handle.
“I usually get most topics from my personal dating experiences.
“The audience is definitely helping the programme by directing me to topics that they relate to or those that affect them,” Kayla said.
From the hundreds of followers who actively engage with the programme, came up the new game in town where men raise a hand and women take charge of the first date.
“The ‘Men’s Coffee Date’ came as a private message from a men who wanted to ask other men if they had ever been treated by ladies even for something as simple as a coffee date.”
Now Kayla creates a coffee date post where men comment with their location.
Women trawl the comment section and if they find a guy they feel like spending some money on and some time with, they inbox Kayla on WhatsApp to be connected.
Kayla says while she clearly discourages married people from using her dating service as a hook up platform, she cannot guarantee that everyone who is there is genuine and not some deranged serial killer.
So she advises all takers to exercise due caution by making the first date in a very space and finding out more about the real person, not the digital persona before committing.
The coffee dates are a big hit. Some of the dates have resulted in relationships while most people have just made some new friends.
Not everyone find happily ever after. One coffee date didn’t happen a woman checked out a man’s profile AFTER offering to take him out.
Turned out they had divergent political opinions and in a period where some are still dealing with post-election trauma, the woman felt her money was better spent on a new manicure.
And not everyone approves of the service.
“The greatest challenge is people accepting the programme, preferring to try traditional methods of finding love like meeting in church, schools or introductions by family and friends,” said Kayla.
Kayla says people should be open minded and there is nothing wrong with finding love the old way. She is in a lovely relationship herself which came about the traditional way.
