President Mnangagwa appoints Larry Mavima PSC Commissioner

President Mnangagwa has made new appointments to the office of Vice President Kembo Mohadi and the Public Service Commission with immediate effect.

Dr Benson Dube has been appointed as Secretary in the Office of the Vice President while Lawrence Mavima has been made Commissioner to the Public Service Commission.

These developments were announced by Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr Martin Rushwaya.

He also explained the merits of these individuals.

“His Excellency the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Cde Dr Emmerson D Mnangagwa has, in terms of Section 205 [1] of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, appointed Dr Benson Martins Dube as Secretary to Hon Vice President KCD Mohadi’s Office, in the Office of the President and Cabinet with immediate effect. 

“His Excellency the President has, in terms of Section 202 (1) (b) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe as read with Section 320 of the same Constitution, approved the appointment of Mr Larry David Mavima as a Commissioner in the Public Service Commission.

“Mr Mavima is a holder of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with a Minor in Public Administration. He has vast experience in the International and private sector where he started as a customer service manager for Allstate Insurance Company in Los Angeles from 1978 to 1981.

“He was appointed Group Management Accountant for the Wiroplastics Division in 1981 and was later promoted to the post of General Manager in the same company. He held various positions at SEDCO and at Baxter International in California, USA.

“In September 2018, His Excellency, the President appointed Mr Mavima as a Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Midlands Province”, said Dr Rushwaya.

Rushwaya highlighted how Mavima fitted into this position, stating that had worked in monitoring and evaluation of State projects.

He added that the vast experience and exposure he gained from there was going help the Commission by pushing Mnangagwa’s vision 2030.
