The High Court has postponed the sentencing of Henrietta Rushwaya to tomorrow at 2:30.

Rushwaya was remanded in custody after her conviction by the Anti-Corruption Court at the High Court accused of smuggling 6kgs of gold with a value of more than US$333 000 to Dubai three years ago.

Rushwaya, who was heading to Dubai when she was arrested at the Robert Mugabe International Airport on October 26, 2020, allegedly had four small bars of pure gold.

She pleaded not guilty. The matter was built on the fact that Rushwaya was caught with the gold in her bag and failed to proffer a valid export permit.

It is alleged that she also presented a bogus invoice and packing list from a company called Ali Japan 786 when she was arrested.

Rushwaya denied the charge, highlighting that she had picked a wrong bag.

That was, however dismissed by Justice Pisirayi Kwenda, highlighting that her defence was implausible.
