BEZBETS Betting Company has been arraigned before the court accused of defrauding a journalist of US$5 200.
The complainant in this matter is Prosper Dembedza of Arcadia.
BEZBETS Betting Company represented its manager Robson Chinamasa, appeared before magistrate Simon Kandiyero at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts accused fraud.
The State, through Faith Mavhudzi, alleges that on October 26, 2023, Dembedza placed a bet on the BEZBETS online platform Roulette with a stake of US$394 with the potential of winning US$5 400 provided in the bet.
He won and went to the shop to withdraw the money but they refused to make a payout and instead offered him US$1 800.
As a result, Dembedza suffered a financial prejudice of US$5 200.
Chinamasa, who was coming from home, was ordered to appear in court on December 8.
