The Zambian Foreign Affairs Minister has resigned after a video raising allegations of scandal went viral on social media.
The Zambian government shared a statement announcing that president Hakaiende Hichilema has accepted the resignation of Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Stanley Kakubo.
Earlier in the day when the video surfaced, Hichilema summoned Kakubo to answer the allegations.
According the Zambian Observer, the video and documents show Kakubo collected US$200,000 and a video was recorded as he received part of the cash.
Handwritten receipts allegedly show Kakubo of NRC 235416/68/1 received the money from Zhang Lianan of Lianan Mining Ltd.of Kitwe.
Kakubo also allegedly got a luxury Mercedes Benz for the sale of a mine Kasempa District
