The Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe has issued a stern warning to businesses and individuals against using and advertising Starlink equipment.
This comes as the American billionaire-owned internet service provider has enticed the Zimbabwean market, leading to individuals and business entities advertising and selling equipment that gives access to its internet services.
Starlink has not yet attained formal registration licence from Potraz as an internet service provider in Zimbabwe.
According to an official who spoke to H-Metro, Potraz is conducting nationwide raids to arrest those utilising Starlink.
“It is illegal to sell or use Starlink in Zimbabwe, and police will conduct raids and arrest shortly,” the Potraz official said.
“All people who advertise the gadgets are placing themselves at risk, and they are advised to stop selling and using them,” the official added.
There are reports that two individuals in Bulawayo and Victoria Falls have already been arrested and before the courts over the use of Starlink equipment.
