Former Harare East legislator, Tendai Biti wore the face of humiliation at the Mabvuku Cemetery where he had gone to pay his last respects to a former cadre in the opposition ranks.

His appearance sparked outrage from the mob who refused to listen to his speech at the cemetery.

This comes as Biti, together with ally, Welshman Ncube have ascended to the helm of the Citizens Coalition for Change presidency, following the resignation of the former party leader, Nelson Chamisa with his sympathisers and supporters accusing Biti and crew of collusion with Zan PF.

Eyewitnesses at the cemetery revealed that Biti was met with hostility when he arrived and wanted to address those gathered, with traitor and Judas chants coming out from the crowd.

“Biti had to run for cover, the Mutengesi chants started with the mob vying for his blood,” said one eyewitness.

Speaking to this publication, Former Mabvuku Tafara MP Munyaradzi Kufahakutizwi said that Biti was part of contributors towards the funeral but however, he wanted to address the crowd who did not want to entertain him.

“People were angry with Biti, especially with his recent political moves and that’s why they wanted to attack him. I had to stop the mob from attacking him as he was one of us back then,” Kufahakutizwi said.

This humiliation leaves a dent on his political career as it gives a reflection of a gloomy picture in the opposition, especially with reports of his alleged backing of the disputed secretary-general Sengezo Tshabangu.
