Man barred from wife’s workplace for causing disruptions over his sexual frustration

Michael Mashiri

A Harare man who airs his bedroom frustration at his wife’s workplace has been told to stop it.

Memory Katsande appealed to the Harare Civil Court to protect her against her husband Joseph Luveve.

Luveve said the marriage is now on the verge of collapse after Katsande has gone off him sexually after 12 years of marriage.

"Your Honor, it's difficult to have a wife and go for eight months without even touching her breast. My hairy body is now irritating her,” he said. Katsande said Luveve has become a terror.

"He assaults and insults me using vulgar language in front of our children.

"At one point in time he said he was going to kill me," she said.

Katsande said her Luveve’s behavior had led to her losing her job.

"He comes to my work place alleging that I am having an affair with a colleague.

"Because of the disruption he makes, I have since received a termination notice and will be out of a job at the end of this month," she said.

Katsande says she once flew to the house of Luveve’ sister to escape his beatings, but he followed her there and threatened to beat his sister into unconsciousness.

Katsande added that Luveve had beaten her the previous night before and torn her dress which she wanted to show the court as an exhibit of his violence, but she suspected that he had burnt it since she failed to find it.

"I did not sleep at our house as we speak," she said.

The magistrate rule in Katsande’s favour ordering Luveve not to assault, insult his wife or visit her workplace.
