A tip-off landed three Vehicle Inspection Department officers in trouble over allegations of awarding a certificate of competence to a driver who did not go through requisite testing procedures
The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe said Gerald Chitete, Silas Mabaso Zamba and Doniel Mhlanga were sold out by a whistle blower and have appeared at Chinhoyi Magistrates Court charged with criminal abuse of office.
“It is alleged that the trio extended undue favour to an applicant student driver Linda Rwauya by giving her a class 4 driver’s licence when she had not gone through the required testing procedure thereby, acting contrary to their duties as public officials,” said NPAZ in a statement.
The trio is out on US$200 bail each and will reappear in court on March 27.
