Jailed former Chitungwiza Municipality housing director, Alex Mukweva, who is serving time for corruption, was back at the Harare Magistrates' Courts on Friday facing fresh charges.
Mukweva, who at one point served as the local authority’s acting housing director, is now facing charges of not following proper procedures in the allocation of housing stands.
He will return to court on June 6 for routine remand.
The State, through prosecutor Anesu Chirenje, said sometime in 2018, Mukweva working with former ward 11 councillor Sten Warikandwa, unlawfully allocated six residential stands.
The beneficiaries were not on the Chitungwiza housing waiting list.
It is alleged that by so doing, Mukweva violated the Urban Councils Act as well as the Chitungwiza council housing policy.
Warikandwa, according to court documents, allegedly made a fictitious special power of attorney giving him ultimate control of the residential stands.
Mukweva was convicted on similar charges and is currently serving at Harare Central Prison.
