Man in court for raping 4-year-old granddaughter

A man who allegedly raped his 4-year-old granddaughter has been denied bail.

The 46-year-old, whose identity has been withheld to protect the victim, appeared before magistrate Sandra Mupindu at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with rape.

He was ordered to appear in court on March 27.

The State, through prosecutor Tambudzai Masamvi, alleges that on March 12, at around 0500 hours the complainant’s grandmother saw the complainant naked while she was sleeping and saw bruises and swelling on her private part.

The complainant’s grandmother then asked her what had happened and told her that the accused had just assaulted her.

Complainant’s grandmother then went to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals with the complainant to get her examined.

The doctor then advised the complainant’s grandmother to file a police report.
