A security guard, who accidentally shot a complainant with the pistol he was supposed to use on duty, has been taken to court.

Milan Marangwanda, 19, of Hillside, appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with attempted murder.

He will appear in court on April 4.

The State alleges that on March 4, at around 1715 hours, Marangwanda - who is a security guard - was seated in a truck together with the complainant, Aaron Chinjakasi, when he was given a .22 Pietro Beretta pistol to use on duty.

Marangwanda allegedly squeezed the trigger and shot Chinjakasi once on the left leg, above his knee.

He sustained a gunshot wound and the bullet head was lodged in the leg.
