Dynamos Football Club has moved swiftly to dispel rumours circulating in the media that former vice chairman, Vincent Chawonza is seeking a return to the club.
In a statement issued today, the Harare giants distanced themselves from Chawonza’s recent pronouncements, emphasising his lack of authority to speak on their behalf.
The statement, directed at stakeholders, urges them to disregard Chawonza’s comments, labelling them “hollow shenanigans” fuelled by a desire for attention.
“The media statements attributed to Mr. Chawonza should be treated as vain attempts by the former vice chairman to bounce back through the back door,” the club declared.
Dynamos FC further clarified Chawonza’s departure, attributing it to a series of transgressions.
The club cited “reckless statements in the print and electronic media” that not only reflected Chawonza’s personal views but also “brought the club and its stakeholders into disrepute”. The statement went on to highlight Chawonza’s disregard for established protocols, including the failure to obtain clearance from club leadership for his public pronouncements. Additionally, the club pointed out his shortcomings in adhering to “basic tenets of sports management and corporate governance”.
