A Kadoma cattle rustling duo has been arrested following several suspected stock theft cases between January 2023 and February 2024, police have confirmed.
The suspects, Francis Masvora 54, Takudzwa Masvora, 26, were arrested at their house in Kadoma.
In a statement, national police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said that the suspected rustlers failed to account for 15 cattle, with the total number of stolen stock rising to 28, worth US$14 000.
“A police crack team acted on received information and raided the two stock theft suspects at their place of residence in Eiffel Flats, Kadoma.
“Resultantly, the arrest of the two suspects led to the recovery of eight cows, four heifers, one bull and two calves from the suspects’ kraal, which were all positively identified by five complainants,” Ass. Comm. Nyathi said.
Meanwhile, Kadoma police also arrested two suspects on the same charges of stock theft, which happened at a farm.
Ass. Comm. Nyathi also noted that the suspects fled the scene upon seeing the police, leading to recovery of 13 beasts in their kraal.
“Police in Kadoma arrested Munashe Mugova, 23, and Julius Hlanayi, 23, in connection with a case of stock theft which occurred on 16 March 2024 at Pamene Farm. On 17 March, 2024, the police attended to the scene and raided the suspects’ plot. On seeing the police, the two suspects ran away, leaving 13 cattle in the kraal,” Ass. Comm. Nyathi added.
