A Chitungwiza woman, who allegedly hired a car and sold it without the consent if owner, has been taken to court.
Alice Paramu, 33, of Zengeza, Chitungwiza, appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with fraud.
She was remanded in custody.
The complainant in this matter is Bradwell Chiranda.
The State alleges that on March 7, Lorraine Walter Tombo rented his Toyota Belta to Paramu, who presented herself as Anita Mavesere.
She allegedly hired the car for seven days, paid a deposit of US$135 and promised to pay a balance of US$310, including security fee of US$200 on March 11.
The State alleges that on March 8, Paramu manufactured a fake registration book for the car and advertised it for sale.
It is alleged that Chiranda became interested in the car and approached Paramu, who allegedly lied that she was the owner of the car and sold it to him for US$2 500.
On March 12, Tombo approached Chiranda, claiming ownership of the car, resulting in Chiranda filing a report with the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission.
As a result, Chiranda lost US$2 500.
