A man from Glen View, Harare, who was caught terrorising a motorist, claiming he was a police officer, has been taken to court accused of impersonating a police officer.

Munashe Musekiwa, 21, appeared before magistrate Apollonia Marutya at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with impersonating a police officer.

He will appear in court today for bail application.

The State, through prosecutor Thomas Chanakira, alleges that on April 13, at around 1100 hours at corner Chinhoyi and Robert Mugabe streets, a Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission team was on patrol around the CBD when they were informed that there was a police officer terrorising a motorist along Chinhoyi and Robert Mugabe Street.

They went there and came across Musekiwa, who was wearing a police uniform.

The team then intercepted Musekiwa and after verification it was discovered that he was not a police officer, but a mere civilian.

That led to his arrest.
