A man who allegedly went to a butchery with a pistol, used it to steal money, has been taken to court.

Mncedisi Ndlovu, 32, of Unit D in Seke, Chitungwiza, appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Courts facing robbery allegations.

He was remanded to May 24.

The State alleges that on May 4, at around 2010 hours, the complainant who is a butchery attendant, was at her workplace at Hunda Butchery, Chitungwiza when she was approached by Ndlovu, who was armed with a pistol.

It is alleged that Ndlovu produced a 9mm browning short pistol serial number 9324070, loaded with 1 live round and threatened to shoot her.

While standing in front of the counter, he forcibly opened the till and stole US$200.

Ndlovu then concealed his pistol in his trouser pocket and went away.

The complainant shouted for help and some unidentified people caught Ndlovu and pushed him back into the butchery.

The complainant closed the door and managed to disarm him.

The court heard that he did not have the authority to be in possession of the firearm.
