A man from Kuwadzana Extension, who was caught with different types of drugs, has been fined to US$100 or two months’ imprisonment.

Lovemore Danison, 46, appeared before magistrate Ruth Moyo at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with unlawful possession of dangerous drugs and contravening the Medicines and Allied Substances Control Act.

He was also sentenced to a month in prison, which was suspended for five years on condition that he would be of good behaviour.

The State, through prosecutor Nomsa Kangara, alleges that on May 6 at around 0900 hours, police from Harare North DHQ crack team were informed that Danison was selling dangerous drugs at his place of residence.

They allegedly went there and found him in his bedroom.

They approached him, identified themselves and told him their purpose of visit.

The police searched Danison’s bedroom and recovered a black plastic paper containing 10 twists of dagga and 41 satchets of dagga in his wardrobe underneath folded clothes.

They also found a small bag with 3 by 100ml Broncleer cough syrup with codeine and 4 by 100ml Benylin cough syrup with codeine, which was on the floor under his bed.

The satchets weighed 150 grammes.
