A Shamva man, Kennedy Mwaliwanda, fatally assaulted his lover over infidelity after finding her being intimate with another man at a local joint.

Mwaliwanda, 37, in a fit of rage, assaulted the now-deceased Steria Chaponda, 27, with open hands.

Mashonaland Central deputy police spokesperson Tonny Nyandoro confirmed the case.

“I can confirm a murder case in Wadzanai, Shamva where a man fatally assaulted his girlfriend in a domestic dispute,” Nyandoro said.

The facts of the matter are that on June 1, Mwaliwanda was told that Chaponda was being intimate with another man at a local bar.

He confirmed the claim and went home to wait for his lover to return.

When Chaponda came home, a dispute ensued and Mwaliwanda assaulted her.

Chaponda sustained serious injuries, and a day later, she complained of stomach problems and Mwaliwanda bought her fresh milk.

After taking the milk, she vomited and collapsed.

Mwaliwanda informed the deceased’s friend who came to the scene but found Chaponda dead.

Police urged couples not to resort to violence but seek counselling whenever they have disputes.
