Man Drags Woman In Tarred Road, Rapes Her

A 23-year-old man has been arraigned before the courts after allegedly threatening a 34-year-old woman and raping her.

Brian Chirango aka Chigure, appeared at the Harare Magistrates' Courts charged with rape.

It is alleged that on 14, 2024, at Westlea shops at around 2300 hours, the accused, Derson went to the fire place where the complainant was sitting with other ladies.

He allegedly said he wanted to light his cigarette and the complainant helped him.

Chirango allegedly became violent and said to the complainant in "Ndoda kukunyenga nyoro, l want to have unprotected sexual intercourse with you".

He broke a beer bottle and put on complainant's neck, dragged her towards nearby houses where no one could see.

He continued putting the bottle on her neck until she sustained a deep cut.

He then ordered the complainant to bent down and raped.

The court heard that the complainant then noticed that Chirango was now concentrating on the sex ,she removed his private part and jumped into a taxi which was nearby.

The court was informed that before the complainant could get in Chirango grabbed her jacket and puiled her out.

He started dragging her on the tarred road and she sustained some bruises.

The court was informed that the taxi driver and a certain lady rescued the complainant.

She filed a report at ZRP Mabelreign.

The accused was granted US$100 bail and will appear in court on July 26, 2024.
