The City Sports Centre is set to be the epicenter of handball excitement as the inaugural Art Handball tournament kicks off. With a staggering 13 ladies' and 18 men's teams vying for glory, the event promises to be a thrilling showcase of skill and athleticism.
Tournament director Yvette Ashburner expressed her gratitude to the Harare City Council and the Zimbabwe Handball Federation for their support in bringing this event to fruition. "I'm confident that together, we will deliver an amazing handball tournament that everyone can enjoy," she said.
Under the theme "Uniting all races and Tribes through Handball," the tournament aims to foster unity and camaraderie among participants and spectators alike.
Adding to the tournament’s allure is the participation of Sodbury School's Spikers, the reigning NASH Under 17 and 20 champions. The young guns will be competing against seasoned players, providing a unique opportunity for growth and development. Spikers coach Calvin Banda is optimistic about his team's performance, emphasizing the importance of enjoying the experience and learning from their more experienced opponents.
On the men's side, Zimbabwe Senior handball team captain Peter Chabarwa has vowed to lead Manyame Falcons HC to victory. The team is eager to make a strong statement and is prepared for tough competition from the other participating teams.
The ladies' category is equally promising, with Ashley Gutsa, captain of All Races Tribes HC, gearing up for a fierce battle against the formidable Manyame Sparrows. Despite the tough competition, Gutsa is confident in her team's ability to emerge victorious.
