State-owned telecommunications giant, NetOne, has strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of Dr. George Manyaya and Tendai Zengeni as new board directors. The announcement was made during the company’s 8th Annual General Meeting held today at Manna Resorts in Harare.
The AGM saw shareholders approve the audited financial statements for 2023, authorize auditor’s fees, and ratify the appointment of the two new directors. Notably, Tendai Zengeni, who was initially appointed on July 4, 2023, has been elevated to the position of Vice Chairperson of the NetOne board.
Zengeni, a seasoned academic with a PhD in Fiber Optics and Nanophotonics, brings a wealth of expertise in research and technology to the company. Her previous roles at Universiti Utara Malaysia and affiliation with MIT underscore her technical prowess.
Dr. George Manyaya, on the other hand, boasts a strong background in business administration and extensive experience in the public sector. His tenure at Zinara, ZESA, and Potraz, coupled with his diplomatic roles, highlights his strategic acumen and ability to navigate complex environments.
The appointment of these two accomplished individuals signifies NetOne’s commitment to bolstering its board with diverse expertise and experience. Their contributions are expected to be instrumental in driving the company’s growth and enhancing its competitive edge in the telecommunications industry.
