A political storm is brewing in Manicaland as allegations swirl about the clandestine insertion of former G40 kingpin, Kudzai Chipanga, into the province’s District Coordinating Committee.

Sources within the party claim that Chipanga is being smuggled into the DCC through the backdoor, sparking outrage among senior party members who want the province to hold DCC elections.

The controversial move has ignited tensions within the province, with staunch Zanu PF loyalists vehemently opposing the re-introduction of a figure who closely worked with the self-exiled former Zanu PF National Commissar, Savior Kasukuwere. There are growing calls for fresh elections to be held within the DCC to address the perceived infiltration.

Insiders suggest that Chipanga’s return is part of a wider strategy to revive the G40 faction, which was dismantled following the 2017 military intervention. The move has raised concerns about potential factionalism and instability within the party.

Insiders said Chipanga is being backed by some party official who are strategically positioning their preferred 2028 Presidential candidate.

"There is logic in this madness," said a political commentators who aslked for anonymity given the nature of his job.

"Those backing Chipanga include former Finance Minister Patrick Chinamasa and a few G40 characters who are trying to rebuild their strong base in preparations for the next congress ahead of the 2028 elections."

"The most interesting thing is that they want to avoid elections. They are smuggling their people at the expense of deserving members.

Source said efforst are being made to take the issue to the Politburo so that the highest decision making organ of the party can provide guidance.

Chipanga played a pivotal role in President Emmerson Mnangagwa's ouster in 2017.

He also raffled feathers with the military when he vowed to defend the former President Robert Mugabe with his own blood.
