Man connives with friends to rob boss

Five suspects were arrested for stealing US$100 442 cash and a cell phone from a Toyota Hiace vehicle which was travelling from Bulawayo to Harare.

In a statement, the Zimbabwe Republic Police said that the gang is also connected to a stage managed case of armed robbery which occurred on August 4, 2024 along Harare-Masvingo road in Chivhu.

The suspects, Richard Banda, 23, Tawananyasha Nyengerai, 21, Lionel Chipenzi, 25, Harrison Chiinge, 24, Calos Muwani and Richard Banda snatched a bag containing the money before fleeing from the scene in a getaway car, a Nissan note registration number AGN 2303.

Subsequent inquires revealed that Richard Banda was the mastermind of the robbery after getting information from his employer on their travel arrangements.

He planned with his friends and colleagues to steal the money from his boss.

The arrest led to the recovery of US$100 442 cash.

‘’The police crack teams are on high alert and will serve that all robbery syndicates and those who leak information on their employers' financial status and movements are brought to book,’’ said National Police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi.
