A daring robbery rocked Glen View 2 Shopping Centre in Harare on Monday morning as four armed robbers targeted a Mukuru Money Transfer outlet, making off with over US$2 700 and R2 350.
The incident occurred at around 9:39 AM at a money transfer shop located inside a pharmacy at Makomva Shopping Centre. Witnesses reported that the suspects, armed with pistols, fired two warning shots into the air, sending customers and staff into a panic.
According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police, the robbers demanded cash from both the teller and a customer. In an official statement, ZRP confirmed the details of the heist:
"Four unknown suspects armed with pistols pounced at the shop and fired two shots in the air before demanding cash from the teller and a client. The suspects stole US$2,789.00 and ZAR2,350.00 cash and drove off in their getaway car, a black Toyota Mark X vehicle."
Law enforcement agencies have launched an investigation into the crime and are urging anyone with information to report to the nearest police station.
Authorities are working to track down the suspects and recover the stolen funds.
