A 29-year-old man from Kuwadzana Extension has been charged with indecent assault for raping and threatening his 15-year-old niece.
It is alleged that in April 2023, the complainant was in the kitchen when the accused person entered with another person.
After a few minutes, the other person went out of the kitchen leaving the complainant with the accused.
It is alleged that the accused then started to fondling complainant's breasts, she told him to desist but he persisted.
"The complainant screamed for help but he closed her mouth with his both hands.
"He then stopped after his wife came out of the bathroom.
“The complainant did not disclose the matter because he had told her he would be jailed.”
The State also alleges that in December 2023, the accused person's wife went to the hospital leaving him and the complainant at home.
Later in the evening, the complainant was sleeping in her spare bedroom when the accused entered, awakened the complainant and she asked him why he entered her room.
It is alleged that he then switched off the lights and removed complainant's trousers and pant.
The complainant tried to resist but she was overpowered.
The court was informed that he raped the complainant and threatened to kill her if she disclosed the matter.
On August 7, 2024, the complainant told her uncle about the ordeal and he escorted her to the police where she filed her case.
He was advised to apply for bail at the High Court.
