Kombi drivers appear to growing more lawless and reckless as incidents of road crashes involving commuter omnibuses are on the increase.

This Wednesday at the corner Fife Avenue and Sam Nujoma Street, an Inter Path Altimate diagnostic Solutions delivery man was lucky to escape with minor injuries after being hit by a kombi.

Eyewitnesses told Zim Now that the kombi driver was in the wrong lane when he struck the delivery man on his motorcycle.

A few hours earlier two more kombis were involved in a pile up with a private vehicle just a short distance away at the intersection of Herbert Chitepo and Rotten Row.

Eye witnesses blamed a kombi driver for failing to give way to vehicles that were already in the intersection.

A few weeks ago a kombi driver ran a red light while on the wrong side of the road and caused a four car pile up involving another kombi and two private vehciles at the corner of Sam Nujoma and Herbert Chitepo.

This is just a small fraction of crashes involving kombis within a small quadrant of Harare CBD. The picture gets worse as one widens the area to capture the rest of Greater Harare.

This comes as a police officer driving a kombi is likely to face culpable homicide charges after a crash in which two people died along Seke Road over the holiday.
