Banket, Zimbabwe – Tragedy struck on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at approximately 4:00 PM, when a fatal road traffic accident occurred at the 103 kilometer peg along the Harare-Chirundu Road.
According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police, a Mazda 3 traveling towards Chinhoyi collided head-on with a Howo Sino truck moving in the opposite direction.
The Mazda 3 was carrying four occupants at the time of the crash. The impact resulted in three passengers being trapped inside the vehicle, while one was ejected from the car.
Sadly, all four occupants of the Mazda 3 succumbed to their injuries and died on the spot.
The ZRP confirmed that the bodies of the deceased were transported to Banket Hospital for post-mortem examinations as investigations into the accident continue.
Authorities are appealing to motorists to exercise caution and observe road safety regulations to prevent further tragic incidents on the busy Harare-Chirundu highway.
Further details on the cause of the accident are yet to be released.
