A 55-year-old man has been remanded in custody until September 4, 2024, for raping a 14-year-old juvenile.
Zireni Ford, of Glen Norah A, appeared before magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa charged with rape.
The State alleges that on March 29, 2024, Zireni called the complainant who was sitting outside the house.
It is alleged that Zireni stepped outside of the house and pulled the complainant into his bedroom.
The court heard that the complainant screamed and Zireni put his hand on her mouth and ordered her to keep quiet.
"He allegedly then removed the complainant's dress, pushed her on the bed and raped her.
“A suspicious movement on the gate was heard and forced Zireni to get off from the complainant pushing her outside,” the court heard.
After the complainant had taken her dress, Zireni allegedly told her not to tell anyone.
On August 8, 2024, the complainant's mother observed that her stomach was growing big and that is when the complainant revealed the matter to her mother.
The complainant was five months pregnant.
