Sodomy at Harare Central Remand Prison!

Three inmates men who sodomised a 20-year-old inmate at Harare Central Remand Prison have been taken to court.

Kingswell Ngwerume, 32, Kudakwashe Mazorodze, 35 and Lazarus Chinobhuruka, 40, appeared at the Harare Magistrate's Courts charged with aggravated indecent assault.

The State alleges that on August 11, 2024, the complainant and the accused persons went upstairs to sleep.

Kudakwashe told the complainant to enter Cell C2 and fill in and he complied, they were 9 in that cell, the complainant, the three accused persons, kudzanai, Tatenda Shingirai and two others.

The court heard that whilst sleeping, the complainant woke up at around midnight to find Ngwerume caressing his chest and manhood.

It is alleged that he went on to suck his manhood and instructed him to lie facing the same side.

"The complainant told him that he was not interested since he knew he wanted to have anal sexual intercourse with him.

"The accused then assaulted the complainant with fists and open hands all over the body together with Mazorodze and Chinobhuruka.

"Chinobhuruka took a bottle of liquid and forced the complainant to drink.

"After drinking, complainant then felt dizzy and powerless," the court heard.

It is alleged the complainant's pant was removed and Chinobhuruka put Vaseline on the complainant's anus and inserted his manhood into the anus and had unprotected anal sexual intercourse with him once without his consent.

It is alleged that Ngwerume and Mazorodze also did the same and had unprotected anal sexual intercourse with the complainant.

The court was informed that Ngwerume went for the second time and had sexual anal encounter with the complainant.

After that, the accused persons went back to their respective places and slept.

The other inmate known as Gunners started insulting the accused, telling them that what they had done was wrong until they fell asleep.

The complainant reported the matter to the prison officer who opened the cell the following morning and was taken to the hospital for medical report.

The accused persons were remanded in custody.
