Glen-View North legislator, Happymore Chidziva, has been arrested and charged with rape. The MP, commonly known as "Bvondo," is accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl.
The incident came to light when the minor was reported missing last week. Chidziva was subsequently taken to Budiriro Police Station for questioning. The rape charge was later registered at Harare Central Police Station, detailing the alleged events.
According to court papers, the alleged rape occurred at one of Harare's popular hotels, the Jameson Hotel. The minor's family reported her missing after she was last seen in the company of the MP. They suspected that Chidziva had promised the girl a job and was possibly hiding her.
The family expressed concerns about the MP's relationship with the teen, as it is illegal in Zimbabwe for adults to engage in sexual activity with minors under the age of 18.
