Two men who were romantically involved were arrested for sodomy after one reported the other for stealing cash.
Tavimbanashe Chawatama, 28, and Leonard Nyakudya appeared before the Harare Magistrates' Court charged with sodomy.
The allegations are that the two men got into a relationship sometime in August 2023. They lived together and allegedly had consensual sexual relations.
The National Prosecuting Authority said that the two would at times record themselves in the act using their mobile phones.
"The relationship came out to light on August 23, 2024 when an argument arose between the two wherein one of the partner accused the other of infidelity.
"The heated argument forced the other partner to move out of the house whilst he was leaving his partner accused him of stealing money.
"After the accusation, both partners decided to involve the police to solve and recover the missing money.
“Unknowing, they furnished the police with details of sodomy as they were explaining the issue of the missing money and their living arrangements leading to their arrest,” the NPA said.
They were granted US$50 bail and the matter was remanded for September 6, 2024 for bail ruling.
