The Zimbabwe Football Association has officially announced the appointment of Sithethelelwe "Kwinji 15" Sibanda as the new head coach of the Zimbabwe Women’s Senior National Team, the Mighty Warriors.
This appointment comes on the heels of her recent success, leading Chapungu Queens to victory in the inaugural Heart Cup, further cementing her reputation as a highly skilled and dedicated coach in women's football.
Sibanda is no stranger to the Mighty Warriors, having previously served as head coach from 2017 to 2021. During her tenure, her leadership was instrumental in the team’s development, particularly in their historic achievement of qualifying for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games—Zimbabwe’s first-ever appearance in the Olympics—as part of the coaching staff.
ZIFA Normalisation Committee Chairman, Lincoln Mutasa, expressed his enthusiasm about Sibanda's return, stating, "We are thrilled to have Sithethelelwe Sibanda back at the helm of the Mighty Warriors. She brings a wealth of experience, a proven track record, and an in-depth understanding of the game.
"We are confident that under her leadership, the team will continue to achieve success on both the regional and international stage."
With her new role, Sibanda will lead the Mighty Warriors into the upcoming COSAFA Women’s Championship.
Her vast experience, dedication to the advancement of women's football in Zimbabwe, and her commitment to fostering national team success make her an exciting prospect for the future of the Mighty Warriors.
