Manicaland and Mash Central top diarrhoea cases

With 1 568 and 1 438 cases respectively, Manicaland and Mashonaland Central provinces contribute the highest on the cumulative total of  9 762 cases of common diarrhoea recorded between October 24 to October 30, 2022, according to the Ministry of Health and Child Care Weekly Diseases Surveillance report for that period.

The figures also show a total of 10 deaths. 

Reads part of the report: “Of the 10 deaths, six were reported from Sally Mugabe Central Hospital, with Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals reporting two, while Chitungwiza Central Hospital and Sanyati District Hospital both recorded one death each.

“Of the reported cases, 4 751 were under five-year-olds. Manicaland and Mashonaland Central provinces reported the highest number of common diarrhoea cases of 1 568 and 1 438, respectively.”

The Ministry of Health and Child Care said the annual cumulative figures for common diarrhoea stand at 283 919 cases and 122 deaths.
